Specs at a Glance

The iconic Ford F-150 has many different trim levels to reflect the different needs of today's drivers. There have been several exciting updates for the truck in 2020, including the addition of a standard WiFi hotspot on all trims. There are some differences in the features between trim levels, however. Let's compare the XL with the King Ranch.

Performance

When it comes to the XL trim, your standard engine is going to be a 3.3L V6 that generates 290-horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Also available here is a turbocharged 2.7L EcoBoost V6 that produces 325-horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. The final powertrain option is a 5.0L V8 that makes 395-horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. These two engines are paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission.

Standard for the King Ranch, on the other hand, is the 395-horsepower V8. You can also have this trim level with the EcoBoost engine or a turbocharged diesel V6 that makes 250-horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. Rear-wheel-drive is the standard, but four-wheel-drive is an option for either trim.

Appearance

Both of these vehicles have a commanding presence. While these trims look very similar, they both have unique appearance packages that you can add to help the 2020 F-150 fit your style. The XL STX package gives you 20-inch wheels, privacy glass, halogen fog lamps, and more. You can also go with the XL Chrome package, upgrading the exterior accents to eye-catching chrome. Finally, there is the Sport package. It adds a lot of chrome as well but features body-colored bumpers.

As for the King Ranch, it also has a Chrome package. It gets 20-inch wheels on top of the chrome accent touches. You can also get the King Ranch Monochromatic Paint package. This has the features from the Chrome package but unlocks more exterior paint options.

Features

The XL trim level of the 2020 Ford F-150 is meant to be a great work truck. It gives you the most essential features, such as a rearview camera with dynamic hitch assist. It also has trailer sway control. Additional safety features found here include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection.

Going with the King Ranch adds quite a few more features to the F-150. It has navigation, heated front and rear seats, wood interior trim, and more. On the safety front, it gets rear parking sensors as well as a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert. This trim also gives you smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
