Surprise Ford Previews the New Edge

The 2015 Ford Escape on sale in Surprise dealerships is unchanged from last year with the exception of a new exterior color choice. Not a surprise, considering the popularity of this Euro-styled smart compact SUV. Join us for our 2015 Ford Escape review as we compare Escape to some rival compact SUVs and talk about some cool hands-free features, engines and drivability.

Let's start with some really kicking engines. You won't find a choice between two turbocharged powertrains in most compact SUVs; not in competing models like the Honda CR-V or Toyota RAV4.  Even the base Escape engine cranks out 170 pound-feet of torque at 4,500 rpm from a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder. Once you step up to the SE or Titanium trims, you're offered one of two EcoBoost engines: a 1.6-liter, light-weight efficient wonder that offers 184 pound-feet of torque at 2,500 rpm; or the 2-liter, finely tuned beauty that produces 270 pound-feet of torque at 3,000 rpm, giving you some very nice grab for urban driving. All are controlled by a six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift override capability. Front-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive available with either of the EcoBoost engines.

If you test drive a 2015 Ford Escape in Surprise, Arizona, you'll find it has dynamic handling unmatched by competitors like the CR-V or Subaru Forester. The Escape also excels in its copious offerings of high-tech gadget options. Take the hands-free liftgate. When you're carrying packages, as long as your key is in a pocket or bag, it only takes a wave of your foot to open the back hatch so you can load up the cargo area, fumble-free! You don't need options for great tech features. A rear view camera is standard, as is the MyKey system which offers parental controls for those sharing the Escape with a teen driver. SYNC is also standard on the Escape, providing voice control for all your infotainment. Just speak and be obeyed. Where else do you find that kind of treatment?
