Ford has achieved top honors in 2026, placing No. 1 among mainstream brands in J.D. Power's Initial Quality Study for the first time since 2010. By continuing to innovate in key areas such as driver-assistance technology, occupant safety, and styling, Ford has earned major industry recognition.
No. 1 Mainstream Brand
The distance Ford has covered is evident in its No. 15 ranking among mainstream brands in J.D. Power's 2023 study. Today, Ford leads the entire mainstream market. Ford President and CEO Jim Farley shared insights on the achievement.
"This is a proud day for everyone at Ford and the result of years of intensive work across our company. Many doubted that an American company with a huge American workforce could compete with the world's best on quality, let alone reach the top. But we put our heads down and worked together every day to deliver for our customers." Farley remarked, "Today, Ford is not only the most American automaker but also the gold standard for new vehicle quality."
Thomas King, J.D. Power president of OEM solutions, noted that individual model excellence anchored the win, saying, "The Ford F-150, Ford Mustang, and Ford Super Duty ranked highest in their respective segments."
Overall, seven out of 10 Ford models placed in the top three of their segments, demonstrating strong performance across multiple vehicle categories.
